DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. — A new distribution agreement will expand the availability of a sparkling energy drink.

Glanbia Performance Nutrition, parent of Optimum Nutrition, has an agreement with Kalil Bottling Co. to distribute Essential AminO Energy Plus Electrolytes.

The drink is sold in convenience stores and retail chains nationwide. Essential AminO Energy Plus Electrolytes is a lightly carbonated beverage available in flavors such as Cherry, Grape, Blueberry Lemonade, Green Apple, Watermelon and Juicy Strawberry.

Each 12-ounce can has less than 5 calories, with zero sugars and artificial flavors. It has 100 milligrams of caffeine derived from natural sources and 5 grams of amino acids and electrolytes to support energy, focus, performance and endurance, according to the company.

"Our new agreement makes it easier for consumers to access delicious, high-quality performance nutrition offerings in grocery and convenience stores and advances our goal of product accessibility for anyone interested in a wellness lifestyle," said Sara Teeter, director of brand marketing for Optimum Nutrition.

Kalil Bottling, Tucson, Ariz., services accounts in all traditional channels of trade and operates out of four locations in the Southwest.

Optimum Nutrition, Downers Grove, Ill., started in 1986 to satisfy consumer demand for consistent quality in sports nutrition. The company also manufactures nutrition bars, protein powders, ready-to-drink shakes, multivitamins and more.
