Shock Top Belgian White Available in New 12-Oz. Cans

And Narragansett Beer introduces 24-oz. Tallboy cans

ST. LOUIS -- Beginning June 13, Shock Top Belgian White will be available for the first time in aluminum cans. The bright orange can, with corresponding orange pull tab, will be sold nationwide in 12-packs of 12-ounce cans.

"Shock Top's popularity just continues to increase year after year with a 24% growth in 2010 alone, and with the growth in canned beer sales over the past several years, we're excited to bring the two together," said Andy Goeler, vice president of import, craft and specialty brands for Anheuser-Busch. "We know fans of this Belgian-style wheat ale have [image-nocss] a wide range of interests, and now, they have an easy-to-transport package they can bring anywhere life takes them."

Shock Top Belgian White is a Belgian-style unfiltered wheat ale, with a naturally cloudy and light golden color. Shock Top is brewed with orange, lemon and lime peels and coriander, giving it a citrusy aroma.

Earlier this year, Shock Top Belgian White rolled out its first extension with Shock Top Raspberry Wheat, available nationwide on draught and in six-packs of 12-oz. bottles. Shock Top Belgian White also introduced 22-oz. bottles to its packaging lineup, to provide even more options for Shock Top fans to enjoy their favorite Belgian-style wheat ale, whatever the occasion.

Separately, Narragansett Beer is now available in 24-ounce Tallboy cans for the first time in the brew's 120-year history, said brewer Narragansett Beer Co. Due to increasing customer demand for easily transportable single-serving cans, Narragansett Lager 24-oz Tallboys are available for purchase at leading retailers, bars, resorts and venues throughout New England for a suggested retail price of $1.59 to $1.95.

Narragansett Beer has already become recognized for its signature 16-oz. Tallboy, the company said. The 24-oz. introduction will allow it to further expand availability.

Narragansett Lager is brewed with six row malt, seedless hops, corn from Iowa, the same lager strain used by the brewery since Prohibition, and the purest water from Lakes Ontario and Hemlock.

Producing a family of American lagers and ales, Narragansett Beer is produced at breweries in Rochester, N.Y., and Latrobe, Pa., with craft brews being produced in Providence, R.I., and Pawcatuck, Conn. Narragansett Lager is available throughout New England, southern New York, eastern Pennsylvania, Florida and western North Carolina.
