YORK, Pa. — Consumers looking for spirits can now do their shopping at Rutter’s—but only at its West Virginia convenience-store location.

By law, the York, Pa.-based chain is not allowed to sell spirits in its home state of Pennsylvania; however, it was recently granted a 10-year license from the West Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Administration which allows the retailer to sell spirits at its store in Inwood, W.Va.

The Inwood store already offers an extensive assortment of wine and beer. Rutter’s added spirits to a room specifically built to sell all of the store’s more than 800 different adult beverage products. The store now offers bottled spirits, ready-to-drink cocktails, wine and more. It also has a 29-degree beer cave.

“We’re very excited to offer spirits to our customers in West Virginia, which we’re unable to do in our home state of Pennsylvania,” said Robert Perkins, Rutter’s vice president of marketing. “We’re confident spirits customers will enjoy the convenience, variety and award-winning customer service Rutter’s will provide to them.”

Rutter's is an industry leader in c-store design, sustainable construction, retail technology, restroom focus and foodservice innovation. It operates 78 stores in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Maryland and ranked No. 87 on CSP's Top 202 list of the largest c-store chains in the United States.
