PURCHASE, N.Y. -- On the heels of one successful Dream Machine recycling performance in Pennsylvania, PepsiCo is bringing the Dream Machine to another convenience-store chain, this one in Minnesota.
This week, 7-Eleven licensee Handee Marts Inc. announced initial recycling results stemming from its Pepsi Dream Machine recycling initiative, in place since June, brought more than 121,400 beverage containers to be recycled in the Dream Machine units at Handee Mart stores.
For all the bottles and cans recycled at Handee Marts--and in Dream Machine bins and kiosks across the nation--PepsiCo provides support to the Entrepreneurial Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities (EBV), a national program offering free, experiential training in entrepreneurship and small business management to post-9/11 U.S. veterans with disabilities.
“We at Handee Marts are extremely excited about the results of our first three months with the Dream Machine recycling initiative. Not only are we able to provide an opportunity for our guests to improve the environment, we are also able to the support the new business dreams of our veterans,” said Bruce Earhart, vice president of marketing at Handee Marts.
At the same time, Purchase, N.Y.-based PepsiCo has now partnered with Freedom Valu Centers convenience stores in Minnesota, making the Dream Machine recycling program available at 19 Freedom Valu locations in metro Minneapolis-St. Paul.
"We are dedicated to providing our customers with convenience. Our associates take pride in the services we offer, and we are excited to now include the Dream Machine recycling program," said Rick Cagle of Freedom Valu Centers. "We encourage everyone to stop in and experience the Dream Machine and the numerous reward opportunities available for simply recycling a bottle or can."
The Dream Machine recycling initiative, created by PepsiCo in collaboration with Waste Management and Keep America Beautiful, is introducing thousands of recycling kiosks and bins at popular public locations across North America.
The kiosks are computerized receptacles that include a personal reward system, powered by Greenopolis, that allows consumers to earn points for every bottle or can they recycle in the kiosk. Those points can then be redeemed for local discounts on entertainment, dining and travel by visiting www.greenopolis.com.
In addition, the more bottles and cans people recycle in Dream Machines, the more support PepsiCo will provide to the EBV, a national program offering free, experiential training in entrepreneurship and small business management to post-9/11 U.S. veterans with disabilities.
