Executive Restructuring at MillerCoors

Brewer "not satisfied with our volume performance"

CHICAGO -- MillerCoors executives hope some restructuring will add up to increased volume in coming months and years.

David Kroll and Kevin Doyle MillerCoors

The Chicago-based partnership between Miller Brewing Co. and Coors Brewing Co. announced that David Kroll was named chief marketing officer and Kevin Doyle named president–sales and distributor operations, effective immediately. Kroll, age 46, replaces Andy England who is leaving to pursue other interests. Doyle, age 55, replaces Ed McBrien, who is also leaving after 21 years with MillerCoors and Coors Brewing Co.

“We’re not satisfied with our volume performance, so we need to take action to change that dynamic,” said Gavin Hattersley, interim CEO of MillerCoors, who took the reins of the position June 30.

“As our former head of chain and our current chief commercial solutions officer, Kevin Doyle has a long track record of success and a healthy level of impatience and commitment to sales execution," Hattersley said. "Kevin is an inspiring leader with a deep understanding of the beer business, the current state of retail and the opportunities for our portfolio.

"As our vice president–innovation, David Kroll has played a critical role in introducing Redd’s and Smith & Forge. He is a bold and decisive leader with marketing experience beyond beer, and I am excited to see what he can do to shape our marketing efforts in the digital age.”

Both Kroll and Doyle will report directly to Hattersley.

Two of MillerCoors' biggest beers--Coors Light and Miller Lite--saw sales dip in 2014 and again in the first quarter of 2015.

Doyle joined Miller Brewing Co. in 1983 as a retail representative and has grown his career over the years at MillerCoors and Miller, serving in a number of roles, including general manager, regional vice president, chief customer officer and most recently chief commercial solutions officer. Throughout his tenure, Kevin has led countless projects, and under his leadership, MillerCoors has been recognized as a leading supplier in chains. Doyle has a BA from Loyola University and completed the General Manager Executive Program at the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business.

Kroll joined MillerCoors in 2012 as the vice president of innovation. A year later he assumed responsibility for insights. Prior to joining MillerCoors, David served as vice president at Dyson, leading the commercial operations for the United State and Mexico region. He has had several marketing leadership roles at companies such as Alberto Culver (Unilever), Wrigley and Procter & Gamble. David has a BS and an MBA from Cornell University.

MillerCoors is a joint partnership of the Miller Brewing and Coors Brewing companies. It offers domestic favorites such as Coors Light, Miller Lite, Miller High Life and Coors Banquet. Tenth and Blake Beer Co. is the brewer's craft and import division, offering beers such as Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy from sixth-generation Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Co. and Blue Moon Belgian White from modern craft pioneer Blue Moon Brewing Co.
