PURCHASE, N.Y. -- PepsiCo is encouraging consumers to celebrate the 1990s with the limited-time comeback of its Crystal Pepsi soda.
"Inspired by overwhelming fan demand," the company said, Pepsi will make the '90s clear cola available for a limited time across retail and foodservice retail in Canada and the United States this summer.
To mark the occasion—what PepsiCo has dubbed the Summer of Crystal Pepsi—the brand will release “The Crystal Pepsi Trail” game online, a take on the popular 1990s computer game “The Oregon Trail,” beginning July 7.
“We’ve always had a special place in our heart for Crystal Pepsi, and there has been a huge groundswell of support to bring it back,” said Stacy Taffet, senior director, marketing, for Pepsi. “What better way to celebrate this iconic '90s cola than to introduce a new take on one of the most beloved games of the decade.”
Beginning July 11 in Canada and Aug. 8 in the United States, 20-ounce bottles of Crystal Pepsi will be available for purchase at major retailers for a suggested retail price of $1.79.
This is the second comeback for Crystal Pepsi. The carbonated soft drink was offered for a limited time in the United States through a sweepstakes on the Pepsi Pass app in December 2015.
