Sheetz, MADD Team Up Again for Sober Driving

10th year of partnership to raise awareness, funds
ALTOONA, Pa. -- Sheetz Inc. and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) again joined forces to promote sober drivers over the Labor Day weekend, according to DUIattorney.com.

On the Saturday prior to Labor Day, Sheetz donated 10 cents for every cup of coffee sold to support MADD's sober-driver campaigns. Convenience store in West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Ohio and Virginia participated.

Posters were on display in all Sheetz locations reminding drivers to designate stay sober on the holiday [image-nocss] weekend. This effort marks nearly 10 years of partnership between Sheetz and MADD.

The choice of donations on coffee is particularly to encourage nonalcoholic beverages for sober drivers.

Founded in 1980, Irving, Texas-based MADD is a nonprofit organization that seeks to stop drunk driving, support those affected by drunk driving, prevent underage drinking and push for stricter alcohol policies.

Altoona, Pa.-based Sheetz is a family-owned and -operated c-store chain with more than $4.9 billion in revenue for 2008 and more than 12,000 employees. The company operates more than 350 convenience locations throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio and North Carolina. All Sheetz stores are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
