Two Chains Add Protein2o to Product Mix

MELROSE PARK, Ill. -- Supermarket chain and gas-station owner/operator Hy-Vee stores have joined Mariano's grocery stores in adding Protein2o enhanced bottled waters to its product lines.

Hy-Vee, an employee-owned chain of 235 supermarkets located throughout the Midwestern United States, added the beverages, manufactured by Protein2o Inc., in June.

West Des Moines, Iowa-based Hy-Vee ranks among the top 25 supermarket chains and the top 50 private companies in the United States. Its 235 stores are located in eight Midwestern states: Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

“The addition of Hy-Vee stores is another solid step in our continuing rollout of Protein2o products," said Robert M. Kral, president and CEO of Protein2o , Melrose Park, Ill. "Hy-Vee stores, which have a long history of quality and excellence, are a well-established mainstream grocery retailer. We’re proud they’ve added Protein2o products to their shelves."

Mariano's, meanwhile, is adding the drink line this month. Mariano's, a division of Milwaukee-based Roundy's Supermarkets, has 25 grocery stores throughout Chicago and the surrounding area.

Protein2o is the first line of low-calorie waters enhanced with 15 grams of protein and a blend of nourishing electrolytes. The drinks are available in lightly flavored Berry Splash, Grape Splash and Lemon Splash. Protein2o was developed to target health conscious men and women who lead active, on-the-go lifestyles.
