7-Eleven Offers Pink Coffee Cups, Beverages

Promotion benefits breast cancer charities

DALLAS -- In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and to raise much needed funds for breast cancer research, 7-Eleven Inc., offers two ways to "drink pink" this October. The retailer that sells more than 1 million cups of coffee each day has created an attractive refillable stainless-steel mug. At a price of $6.99, the pink 16-oz. coffee mug features a splash-resistant lid and understated pink-ribbon art. The mug offers the first hot beverage included, and refills are just 99 cents (suggested retail price). A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each cup will be donated to [image-nocss] support breast cancer research.

For those who like their beverages a little stronger, Mike's Hard Lemonade Co. has brewed up a pink version of its popular mike's hard lemonade, called Mike's Hard Pink Lemonade. The limited-edition flavor is available at participating 7-Eleven stores for a suggested retail price of $7.99. Mike's, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, is contributing $250,000 to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, which will fund a researcher for one year.

The donation was made in memory of a long-time Mike's employee who lost her battle with breast cancer last December.

Select 7-Eleven stores also will sell an assortment of pink ribbon products to help raise breast cancer awareness. Products include a bookmark, pins, a bear backpack clip, pen, necklace, keychain, ID badge, car magnet, sticky notes with pen, and a ceramic mug. 7-Eleven will donate 5% of the retail sales price to Susan G. Komen for the Cure for each product sold.

In addition to the pink drink and nonfoods assortment, participating 7-Eleven stores are carrying popular pink products from manufacturers that have made a commitment to contribute a portion of the proceeds to breast cancer charities for every item sold. Special edition Hershey Kisses and M&M candies have specific product and/or packaging to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness this month.

Dallas-based 7-Eleven operates, franchises or licenses some 7,850 7-Eleven stores in North America. Globally, 7-Eleven operates, franchises or licenses more than 36,600 stores in 15 countries. During 2008, 7-Eleven stores worldwide generated total sales of more than $53.7 billion.
