7-Eleven Sets Cage-Free Egg Goal

Will source 100% by 2025

IRVING, Texas -- Convenience-store retailer 7-Eleven Inc. has announced that it will work with its suppliers toward a goal of sourcing only cage-free eggs by 2025, based on available supply for all of its c-stores in the United States and Canada.

“7-Eleven cares about the treatment of animals, and switching to cage-free eggs demonstrates our concern,” said Jesus Delgado-Jenkins, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer for 7-Eleven. “We believe that it is becoming important to our customers for us to serve more humanely sourced eggs.”

Snack suppliers Snyder's-Lance Inc., Charlotte, N.C., and Otis Spunkmeyer, Los Angeles, among industry other convenience-store industry companies, also announced commitments recently to use cage-free eggs in their products.

7 Eleven, based in Irving, Texas, operates, franchises and licenses more than 10,700 convenience stores in the United States and Canada. Globally, nearly 60,000 7-Eleven c-stores, operating in 17 countries, serve more than 44 million customers every day.
