A&W Teams Up With Antunes for All-Day Breakfast

Fast-food chain debuts Egg Station equipment in Canada

CAROL STREAM, Ill. -- A&W Food Services of Canada Inc. is rolling out an all-day breakfast program with assistance from Antunes, a foodservice equipment manufacturer for the convenience-store and restaurant industries.

A&W has partnered with Antunes on a chainwide rollout of its Egg Stations to approximately 550 restaurant locations. The rollout was timed to A&W’s launch of its all-day breakfast program—a first in Canada.

“Some of our restaurants were already using the Antunes Egg Station, and we saw an opportunity to expand the use of this piece of equipment to increase efficiencies across the chain, which was especially important as we were preparing for our historic all-day breakfast launch,” said Tyler Pronyk, director of distribution, equipment and packaging for A&W Canada.

A small-footprint, countertop alternative to grill cooking, Antunes’ Egg Stations quickly cook eggs to order using steam and heat.

“The Antunes Egg Station gives us menu consistency, meaning eggs will be cooked the same way, in the same amount of time from store to store, and that’s the type of reliable guest experience that we strive for,” said Jean O’Connor, manager of equipment services for A&W Canada.

Carol Stream, Ill.-based Antunes modified the standard egg ring size to 3.75 inches in diameter to meet A&W Canada’s needs, and the Egg Stations are now used to cook fresh eggs for all of the chain’s breakfast sandwiches.

A&W Food Services of Canada is based in North Vancouver.
