Chester the Chicken Meets Polecat Pete

Stinker Stores opens a fourth Chester's location

CHUBBUCK, Idaho -- Stinker Stores has opened its the newest Chester's Chicken outlet, located in one of its stores in Chubbuck, Idaho. A special grand opening event will held next month, to include a ribbon-cutting ceremony and guest appearances by Chester the Chicken and Polecat Pete, the chain mascot.

In November 2002 Charley Jones and longtime Stinker employee Shawn Davis decided to form a partnership and purchase the Stinker Stores and related business interests of the Farris Lind family. Since the purchase, Stinker has acquired or built more than 15 new sites, bringing [image-nocss] the total to more than 50 retail operations.

This is the fourth location in which Stinker Stores have co-branded with Chester's International LLC, a leading fried chicken foodservice offering in the convenience store category.

"Chester's training programs and continued involvement with Stinker employees builds a winning environment for both companies," said Jon Magnum, retail operations manager for Stinker Stores.

"It is always exciting to see the Chester's brand grow," said James Venable, vice president of operations for Chester's. "Operators are realizing more and more the endless potential of foodservice sales. Everyone sells candy bars, gas and snacks, but not everyone sells Fresh Fried Chicken. Stinker Stores will continue to do well with Chester's."

Chester's signature menu options include fried bone-in chicken, chicken tenders, potato wedges and biscuits. The newest Chester's location will be open lunch and dinner; and will offer customers dine-in, carryout and catering options.

Birmingham, Ala.-based Chester's a leader of quick-serve restaurant (QSR) concepts with more than 1,800 Chester Fried licensed and Chester's franchised locations. Along with its foodservice products, it offers flexible size and store layout options, training and support. Chester's uses only fresh chicken that is specially marinated and double-breaded using a proprietary family recipe and offers bone-in, tenders and potato wedges as well as sandwiches, wraps, salads, breakfast and sides.
