Cumberland Farms Has Class

New-store grand openings, donations help raise funds for high schools
FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- Cumberland Farms celebrated the grand opening of its newly remodeled concept store in Norton, Mass., earlier this month with a community wide fundraiser to support the students at Norton High School (pictured).

The company will donate 20 cents from every ChillZone beverage and cup of coffee sold at the revamped store to the Norton High School Student Activity Agency, with a minimum goal of $1,000. The donation will support students in need of financial assistance, class field trips and awards ceremonies, among other activities.

The Framingham, [image-nocss] Mass.-based convenience retailer in late October also kicked off the grand opening of its newest convenience stores in Amherst and North Amherst, Mass., with a fundraiser to support the students at Amherst Regional High School.

Cumberland Farms will donate 20 cents from every ChillZone beverage and cup of coffee sold at the two new stores to the Amherst Regional High School Parent Center. This fundraiser will help save 30 student activity clubs which are in jeopardy of continuing due to lack of funding, from Model UN, Dance Theatre Ensemble and the Community Service club, among others. The company said it intends to raise at least $2,000 for the Parent Center, with the help of the community.

Ari Haseotes, president of Cumberland Farms Retail Division, said that these fundraisers are the company's "way of saying thank you for the warm welcome the towns have given us."

From a wide variety of sandwiches that can be toasted on site, to thick chocolate milkshakes, flatbread breakfast sandwiches and even personal pepperoni pizzas, the stores' new menu is focused on fresh food. Customers can be their own baristas at the coffee bar, stocked with the new Farmhouse Blend, or opt for a cold beverage at the ChillZone.

Cumberland Farms' network of retail stores, gas stations and a support system including petroleum and grocery distribution operations spans 11 states across the Northeast and Florida, making it the largest convenience store and petroleum marketer in the Northeast. Its affiliate, Gulf Oil LP, is one of the Northeast's largest wholesalers of refined petroleum products. Gulf distributes motor fuels through a network of more than 1,800 Gulf-branded gasoline retail centers, 12 proprietary oil terminals and a network of more than 50 other supply terminals. It supplies heating oil, diesel fuel, jet fuel and kerosene to these branded retail outlets through both its Gulf brand and, in the seven states of New England and New York, the Exxon brand.
