DanoneWave Rebrands Itself

Change marks one year since company’s merger with WhiteWave Foods

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Food product manufacturer DanoneWave has rebranded itself as Danone North America and has become the largest certified B Corporation in the world.

The brand refresh comes one year after Danone's more than $10 billion merger with WhiteWave Foods. “Our new name better positions us as part of Danone, a forward-looking and unified global food and beverage company that demonstrates business success can be synonymous with building a healthier world through food,” Danone North America CEO Mariona Lozano told FoodBev Media.

The company's portfolio of brands includes Activia, DanActive, Danimals, Dannon, Horizon Organic, International Delight, Light & Fit, Oikos Greek yogurt, Silk plant-based foods and beverages, and more.

Concurrently, the food and beverage company’s U.S. and Canada division earned the B Corporation certification two years ahead of schedule. Nonprofit B Lab gives the accreditation to companies who complete an impact assessment and show that they uphold standards on social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.

A total of eight Danone entities making up 30% of the company’s business have earned a B Corporation designation. As a part of its "One Planet. One Health" campaign, Danone aims to certify all its international divisions. “People rightly expect large organizations like Danone to use their scale for positive impact,” said Danone Chairman and CEO Emmanuel Faber in a release. “We do not take this responsibility lightly. B Corp certification is one measure that provides consumers, investors and other stakeholders with a robust framework to assess whether the company they support is having a positive impact on society and the planet.”

Danone North America operates U.S. headquarters in White Plains, N.Y., and Broomfield, Colo. Danone employs 100,000 employees across 120 countries.
