Dinner Daypart MVP

Hot Stuff launches new pizza to help increase dinner sales, battle QSRs
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. --Hot Stuff Foods has launched the "MVP," the Medium Value Pizza, which the company said is meant to help retailers capture market share in the ongoing battle with quick-serve restaurants (QSRs).

"The national pizza chains are promoting pizza deals," said Craig VanHyfte, vice president of marketing for Hot Stuff Foods, "and Hot Stuff Foods is answering the challenge by equipping our franchisees with yet another option to our already competitive pizza program. With medium pizzas retailing at $5.99 and cross promotions with large pies dropping the prices [image-nocss] even more, retailers can still offer the same high-quality pizza their customers expect while going head-to-head with the big boys."

Companies often compromise product quality when providing a value option, but VanHyfte said that Hot Stuff's MVP offers the same high-quality ingredients as its regular-sized pizza, just at a lower price. VanHyfte also added that the MVP program can help retailers highlight their dinner pizza business, an advantage which will ultimately drive more customers into the store.

"Industry research confirms that the vast majority of consumers don't make a decision about dinner until late afternoon," said VanHyfte, "We are working with our franchise partners to grab the attention of these customers during the dinner daypart and drive-time hours to put pizza top of mind."

Drive-time promotions include product sampling, having prepared pizzas in the warmer for afternoon traffic, featuring highly visible merchandising of the MVP, distributing bounceback coupons at the cash register, fuel pumps and accompanying Hot Stuff breakfast items and other efforts to highlight the retailers' multi-daypart foodservice operation.

The company recently launched a similar program for the breakfast daypart. (Click here for previous CSP Daily News coverage.)
