Giant to Go Opens 2nd C-Store

Thorntons, Little General, Love's also announce new or reopened locations
LANCASTER, Pa. -- Giant Food Stores will open the doors of its second convenience store, Giant To Go, on May 19 in Manheim Township, Lancaster County, Pa. The 4,000-square-foot store, offers a number of convenient meal solutions for busy customers and families.

"We gained valuable customer insight from our first Giant To Go location, and this new Giant To Go will deliver an expanded fresh variety of food coupled with all the traditional convenience store offerings," said Sean Michael, store manager. "Time-starved customers will find fresh and healthy meal alternatives prepared [image-nocss] especially for them."

Inside the new Giant To Go, customers will find the store has been designed with three distinct shopping areas: Meals to Go, Groceries to Go and Snacks to Go. Featuring a wide assortment of to-go options, Giant To Go offers fresh and healthy food choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The store will bring the strengths of Giant's fresh food offerings to the on-the-go customer: made fresh in-store rotisserie chicken and fried chicken, a full salad bar, and all new subs - complete with a toppings bar which allows customers to customize their own sub. The coffee station will include a self-service espresso and real cappuccino machine, plus flavor shots for fresh brewed coffee. Other unique offerings include fresh sushi made daily, breakfast sandwiches, hot oatmeal and hot soup.

Customers will also find more than 3,000 popular Giant and national brand grocery items to help customers prepare meals at home. Giant To Go will also offer snacks and other traditional beverages for customers to enjoy when they stop to purchase gasoline.

"With this addition of our fourth fuel station in Lancaster County, we are pleased to offer another location and twelve pumps for our customers to redeem their Gas Extra Rewards," added Michael.

For every $100 spent on grocery and pharmacy out-of-pocket expenses at any Giant or Giant To Go using a Bonuscard, customers will receive ten cents off per gallon of gasoline when they fill up through Giant's Gas Extra Rewards program. Points can be earned and redeemed now through June 25. A new promotion will begin on June 26.

Louisville, Ky.-based Thorntons announced the grand re-opening of a store in Bloomington, Ill., on May 18, 2011. Thorntons currently operates 163 stores throughout Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, Tennessee and Ohio.

Thorntons has introduced foods such as fresh sandwiches, salads and fruits; plus enhanced offerings of hot beverages, particularly Thorntons premium-blend coffees and fountain drinks. It will offer many customer-appreciation promotions during the opening days and weeks of the celebration, highlighted by free coffee and fountain beverages, as well as weekly doorbuster giveaways.

It offers "hot off the grill" convenience food items, hot, cold and frozen beverages made with 100% filtered water, grocery items at economical prices and competitively priced premium fuel available for any type of vehicle.

Additionally, Thorntons is proud to offer the eco-friendly E85 Flex Fuel at this location. E85 Flex Fuel is a motor fuel blend of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline, and is a completely renewable, domestic, environmentally friendly fuel. E85 Flex Fuel enhances the nation's economy and energy independence, and creates little to no emissions at the tail pipe (which means cleaner air and a reduction in pollution). Along with its plans for an expansion of E85 Flex Fuel, Thorntons continues to explore alternative fuel options, offering its customers the most affordable and environmentally efficient fuels for all of their driving needs.

Beckley, W.Va.-based Little General Store Inc. opened its newest location earlier this month, complete with Exxon fuel and an Arby's restaurant, in Weston, W.Va. This makes Little General Store's first location in Lewis County, W.Va.

The Arby's features first of its kind Rock Star Decor.

We look forward to leveraging our strengths and operating capability to further expand the Little General business model to the residents of the Weston Area, Lewis County and into north central West Virginia."

Little General Store, owned by Cory Beasley and Greg Darby, is an 84-location c-store chain with 82 stores in West Virginia and two stores in Virginia. The company also is a franchisee for 28 Subways, 15 Godfather's Pizza's, 11 Sam's Hot Dog Stands, 7 Burger King's, 6 Arby's, 4 Taco Bell's, 3 Krispy Krunchy Chicken Stands, two Steak Escape's and the 79er Restaurant in Burnsville, W.Va. Including the 15 free standing foodservice locations that the company has, the company now operates a total of 99 locations.

And Oklahoma City-based Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores on May 12 announced it opened a new travel stop in Emerson, Ga. It will include Subway and McDonald's restaurants. It will also feature 105 truck spaces, CAT scales, a lotto machine and other amenities.
