Krispy Krunchy Chicken Serves Up Meals to Flood Victims

C-store QSR concept on the front lines in Louisiana

ALEXANDRIA, La. -- Last week, areas in and around Baton Rouge, La., were devastated by heavy rains and flooding that destroyed more than 100,000 homes. In response, Krispy Krunchy Chicken, a quick-service-restaurant (QSR) concept found in c-stores, organized an outreach project to feed hot meals to thousands of hungry flood victims.

Krispy Krunchy handed out more than 5,000 meals in multiple parishes over five days, according to a press release. The outreach continues this week, with Krispy Krunchy providing locals and first responders with its signature fried chicken and sides served from mobile cooking trailers. The company is using Facebook to announce specific locations in Acadia and Lafayette parishes where it will be feeding affected residents of the flooded areas.

Krispy Krunchy is not alone in its efforts to stem off hunger in Louisiana; in a company statement, Hormel Foods also announced that it has donated more than 34,000 pounds of food to flood victims. Hormel’s donation included shelf-stable products, such as Skippy peanut butter and microwaveable cups of Hormel chili.

Krispy Krunchy Chicken is one of the fastest-growing QSR convenience-store brands in the industry. Founded in 1989, Krispy Krunchy now operates in 1,800 retail locations in 36 states.
