Retailer hitching hot dog discount to baseball team's pitching

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- Northwest Arkansas Kum & Go convenience stores are partnering with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals Double-A Texas League affiliate of the Kansas City Royals baseball team for a foodservice-based strikeout promotion.

At any Naturals home game for the remainder of the 2009 season, if the Naturals strike out opposing hitters seven times or more in a game, fans can bring their ticket stub from that day's game into any Northwest Arkansas Kum & Go location before the end of the following day and purchase a 25-cent Ballpark hot dog.

In [image-nocss] addition, through its "Summer of 59" promotion, Kum & Go 32-oz. fountain beverages are always available for 59 cents this summer, meaning Naturals fans redeeming a ticket stub after a seven-strikeout performance by Naturals pitchers will be able to get a Hot Dog and 32-oz. fountain beverage for less than a dollar, the retailer said.
