Manitowoc Foodservice Earns 2nd Energy Star Partner of Year Award

Recognized for contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions
NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. -- For the second consecutive year, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has named Manitowoc Foodservice as an Energy Star Partner of the Year for its contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by manufacturing energy-efficient products and helping to educate consumers about those products.

Globally, Manitowoc Foodservice is recognized as a world-class manufacturer of commercial kitchen equipment. It currently participates in seven Energy Star categories including dishwashers, fryers, ice machines, solid door refrigerators, steam cookers, [image-nocss] griddles, hot-holding food cabinets, and ovens. As a result of the total number of products meeting Energy Star criteria, coupled with its dedication to the research and development of energy-efficient foodservice products, Manitowoc Foodservice will be presented with its second Energy Star Partner of the Year Award in a ceremony held on April 12 in Washington, D.C.

More than 200 Manitowoc Foodservice products have earned the Energy Star rating.

"Today, the EPA is recognizing Manitowoc Foodservice for their leadership in addressing climate change through energy efficiency," said Elizabeth Craig, acting director of EPA's office of atmospheric programs. "Manitowoc Foodservice is producing and promoting energy-efficient Energy Star products that help American consumers join in the effort to increase our nation's
energy efficiency and reduce our emissions of greenhouse gases. We look forward to
continuing to partner with these winners as they create the next generation of energy efficient products."

More than 20,000 organizations are Energy Star partners committed to improving the energy efficiency of products, homes, buildings and businesses.

Energy Star was introduced by EPA in 1992 as a voluntary, market-based partnership to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other pollutants associated with energy use. Today, the Energy Star label can be found on more than 60 kinds of products as well as new homes and buildings. Last year alone, Americans, with the help of Energy Star, saved $18 billion on their utility bills and prevented greenhouse gas equivalent to those of 34 million cars. Products, homes and buildings that have earned the Energy Star prevent emissions by meeting strict energy-efficiency specifications set by the EPA.
