Pierre Foods Acquires Clovervale Farms

Sandwich maker adds entrees, produce to menu

CINCINNATI -- Pierre Foods Inc. has purchased food manufacturer Clovervale Farms Inc. With operations in Ohio and South Carolina, Clovervale Farms produces and sells a variety of food items, including individually portioned entrees, fruits, vegetables, sandwiches, cobblers and other similar products.

The food and foodservice products manufactured by Clovervale Farms are distributed through various customer channels, including schools, hospitals and the military, in addition to senior citizen meal programs marketed under the Chef's Pantry brand. [image-nocss] Clovervale Farms began as a home delivery dairy business in 1946 and has processed U.S.D.A. commodities for the past 22 years.

The acquisition, which entailed the purchase of all stock and assets of Clovervale Farms Inc., was finalized August 18. Prior to the purchase, there were no material relationships between Pierre Foods and Clovervale Farms.
