Quick Check's Fountain of Youth

Opening Ramsey, N.J., store with free coffee; free fountain drinks for kids under 5 ft.
WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. -- Quick Chek Food Stores Inc., a privately owned, family-operated chain of 120 fresh food convenience store locations throughout New Jersey and southern New York, has announced the grand opening celebration of its newest location in Ramsey, N.J., where it will offer customers free coffee and will offer children under 5 feet tall free fountain drinks during the store's first 13 days in business, October 27 to November 8.

The new 4,000-square-foot store will open to the public Tuesday, October 27 at 5:00 a.m. following a special Quick Chek Coffee [image-nocss] Toast ceremony Monday, October 26 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. There, local officials, community members and store representatives will gather to grind, brew and pour the very first cup of Quick Chek's fresh coffee at the new store.

Managed by Store Leader Sonia Chamba, Quick Chek's new Ramsey location will include a coffee bar, sub shop, soup bar, bakery items made fresh everyday, a no-fee ATM center and 16 fueling stations.

Also, during its first 30 days of operation, from October 27 to November 25, Quick Chek will thank the local community for its welcome by donating 25 cents for every sub, sandwich and wrap sold to the Ramsey Ambulance Corps.

Whitehouse Station, N.J.-based Quick Chek operates 120 retail locations in New Jersey and southern New York, including 12 pharmacy stores and 23 locations with fuel.Meanwhile, La Crosse, Wis.-based Kwik Trip has opened a new store in Howard, Wis., last week, reported The Green Bay Press-Gazette. The c-store and gas station features Kwik Trip's Karuba Coffee Bar and Hot Spot with freshly baked breakfast sandwiches, cheeseburgers, Cheese Mountain pizza, corn dogs and breadsticks. The store is open 24 hours, seven days a week. It offers unleaded and diesel fuel and includes a car wash. It will have 20 employees.

The store is registered with the United States Green Building Council to become a Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED)-certified building. The company expects certification in 2010, said the report.

Kwik Trip owns more than 380 stores in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa.

And Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-based Stewart's Shops said that its newly constructed c-store/ice cream shop in Gansevoort, N.Y. is now open for business. It is located on the same site as the old store that it replaced. The shop offers Stewart's signature items including coffee, milk, and ice cream, as well as a full line of groceries and food-to-go items. Installation of the gasoline pumps will be complete in early November, the company said.

Stewart's Shops owns 327 locations in upstate New York and Vermont.
