Reed’s Crafts a Soda Fountain

Equipment is first for its natural-beverage line

LOS ANGELES -- Reed’s Inc., a leading maker of craft sodas, is introducing the first all-natural soda fountain for retailers that dispenses the company's natural sodas.

"Fountain sodas are one of the primary ways soft drinks are sold. They offer retailers and restaurants the greatest economic upside, being up to 80% less expensive than ready-to-drink bottle/can soda," said Chris Reed, founder and CEO of Reed’s. "Many restaurant chains are committing themselves to remove GMOs, artificial ingredients, sweeteners, colors and flavors out of the foods they are selling to their consumers. Simply put, restaurants all over the country are backing ‘clean food’ concepts due to consumer demand."

He continued, "We have spent over two years developing and crafting the best, all-natural 'bag-in-the-box' fountain soda flavors in the industry today."

The soda flavors include Reed's top-selling Reed's Ginger Brews and Virgil's sodas, "along with other new and exciting natural full calorie, mid- and low-calorie flavors. Just about every new restaurant concept introduced to the market today is centered on healthy, better-for-you delicious food. Now these next-generation restaurant concepts can have a fountain soda that matches the natural gourmet food attitude.”

Reed's makes sodas in the natural and specialty foods industry that are sold in more than 15,000 natural and mainstream supermarkets nationwide. Reed's products are sold through an additional estimated 40,000 accounts that include specialty gourmet, natural food stores, retail stores, convenience stores and restaurants nationwide and in select international markets.

Los Angeles-based Reed’s has sold more than 500 million bottles since inception in June 1989 and is considered the leader of the fast-growing craft soda category. Its seven nonalcohol Ginger Brews are brewed, not manufactured, and use fresh ginger, spices and fruits in a brewing process that predates commercial soft drinks. The company owns the top-selling root beer line in natural foods, the Virgil's Root Beer product line, and a top-selling cola line in natural foods, the China Cola product line. In 2012, the company launched its Reed's Culture Club Kombucha line of organic live beverages. Other product lines include Reed's Ginger Candies and Reed's Ginger Ice Creams.
