Subway Restaurant Chain Honors C-Store Location

Fastrip site takes 2009 Franchisee of the Year award for single-unit category
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- The Subway restaurant chain said that it has named the father and son team of Tom and Lee Jamieson of Jaco Oil Co.'s Fastrip Food Stores in Bakersfield, Calif., as the recipients of its 2009 Franchisee of the Year award for single-unit owners in the chain's North American markets during the company's recent convention in Washington.

With 21 employees at the Subway restaurant and 350 under the corporate umbrella, the Jamieson family has been in the convenience store and gasoline business for 35 years. Looking to enhance operations at their Fastrip Food [image-nocss] Stores, Lee and his father Tom became Subway franchisees in March 1994.

As Subway Franchisees of the Year, Tom and Lee are being honored for their accomplishments in building sales and increasing profitability while also achieving excellent store evaluations. They were selected from among the chain's more than 12,000 North American franchisees.

"We are extremely proud as we are a family run business," said Lee Jamieson. "Being named Subway Franchisee of the Year is a tremendous accomplishment, especially for our crew who man and operate our store 24 hours a day and the managers, Ron Jonas, Brandy Davis and Samantha Cabrera, who run the operation on a day-to-day basis."

Commenting on their future with the Subway brand, Lee Jamison addes, "Our goal is to continue to drive sales and profits by trying to run the best operation we can."

"The franchisee is the heart and soul of the Subway family. We know that our success depends upon their excellence in operating their restaurant and motivating their team to provide the best-tasting sandwiches to our customers. We take great pride in the hard work and effort made by the thousands of franchisees throughout the world and in the millions of customers that they serve," said Don Fertman, director of development for the Subway restaurant chain.
