TA to Double Godfather's Pizza Count

Retailer planning QSR expansion in three states

WESTLAKE, Ohio -- TA Operating LLC plans to add 40 new Godfather’s Pizza quick-service restaurant (QSR) units this year around Kansas City, Mo., Lexington, Ky., and across Illinois, said Dave Gartlan, vice president of development for Godfather’s Pizza Inc., Omaha, Neb.

This will more than double TA Operating’s convenience-store locations serving the pizza brand from 38 to 78.

The company operates TA and Petro travel centers and Minit Mart convenience stores for TravelCenters of America (TA). Minit Mart stores with Godfather’s Pizza Express already can be found in Indiana, Missouri, Kentucky and Tennessee.

Earlier this year, TA Operating opened four limited-service stores with Godfather’s Pizza Express in the St. Joseph/Kansas City area. Typical construction and implementation takes approximately 90 days to complete, the company said.

“The team at TA Operating sure know how to make a quick impact on the communities they conduct business,” said Gartlan. “Their drive and knowledge of the food industry, combined with their focus on service, has contributed to the overall success of our Express model.”

Craig Stanley, category manager of foodservice for Minit Mart, said, “Families and professionals alike have been requesting greater access to Godfather’s Pizza and we’re more than happy to give it to them.”

Godfather’s Pizza has been making pizzas for more than 43 years. TA Operating’s partnership with Godfather’s Pizza Inc. began in 2013 in Kentucky.

Westlake, Ohio-based TravelCenters of America has 254 travel centers in 43 states and Canada. It operates approximately 230 convenience stores under its Minit Mart brand.
