Wawa Freshens Up Its Menu for Summer

June marks the return of Hoagiefest and new seasonal items

WAWA, Pa. -- Sunglasses? Check. Swimsuit? Check. Hoagie? Double check. Wawa Inc. is getting into the summertime spirit with seasonal promotions and menu items.

The Wawa, Pa.-based chain’s Hoagiefest is back for a 10th year. The traditionally ’60s-themed campaign will be brought into the present day with contemporary music, decorations and branding. From June 18 to Aug. 5, Wawa fans can purchase hoagies for a discounted price: $3 for a Junior; $4 for a Shorti and $5 for a Classic.

“In the summer, hoagies reign supreme at Wawa,” said Jim Morey, chief brand officer for Wawa, in a news release. “Since we crafted our first hoagie decades ago, Wawa hoagies have been enjoyed anywhere and everywhere. That’s what this new look is all about. Our all-new Hoagiefest campaign celebrates the role hoagies play in summertime fun and the state of mind they represent.”

New secret menu items are also making a splash this summer. The retailer’s secret menu launched in April for the chain’s 54th anniversary. Continuing the colorful precedent Wawa set with its Birthday Cake Shake and smoothie, the new items include a rainbow bagel, and strawberry, mango and citrus lemonade. Fans simply need to order via in-store kiosk and click on the goose at the bottom of the screen to unlock the secret menu.

With 789 convenience stores, Wawa ranked No. 9 in CSP’s just-released 2018 Top 202 list of the largest c-store chains in the United States.
