Another Executive Departs From The Pantry

Retail merchandising, restaurant operations senior vice president to leave at end of March

CARY, N.C. -- John J. Fisher, senior vice president of retail merchandising and restaurant operations, will be leaving The Pantry Inc. on March 29, 2013, the company said in a Jan. 25 filing with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC), as reported in a Raymond James/CSP Daily News Flash.

The company did not provide additional details on his departure in the filing, and it did not respond to a request for comment by press time.

The Pantry has continued to experience a series of high-ranking management changes in recent years, since the late-2009 exit of longtime chairman and CEO Pete Sodini, as well as the mid-2011 departure of his replacement, Terry Marks. In 2011 senior vice president of operations Brad Williams left the company, and in 2012, vice president of marketing Dave Henninger and CFO Mark Bierly left.

Fisher joined The Pantry as senior vice president of marketing in March 2010. Prior to that, he ran Fisher Consulting from 2009 to 2010, specializing in foodservice marketing and operational execution. From 2003 to 2008, he served as executive vice president of The Linebeck Group, a privately held project and construction management firm specializing in complex facility design and project execution. Before that, he was with The Coca-Cola Co. for 11 years, most recently as senior vice president of marketing for North America foodservice. Early in his career, Fisher held positions in manufacturing, engineering and brand management with Colgate Palmolive Co.

Based in Cary, N.C., The Pantry is a leading independently operated convenience store chain in the southeastern United States and one of the largest independently operated c-store chains in the country. As of Jan. 3, the company operated 1,572 stores in 13 states under select banners, including Kangaroo Express, its primary operating banner.
