"Putting the Flowers Where the People Are"

KaBloom completes rollout at 16 Mass. c-stores

PEMBROKE, Mass. -- KaBloom of Pembroke said it has completed the rollout of 16 remote flower kiosks at convenience stores located throughout Boston™s South Shore, Cape Cod and South Coastal Massachusetts. With the 16 sites, KaBloom has joined forces with Verc Enterprises, MPG Group/RapidRefill, New England Farms, Red™s Quick Zone and Tedeschi Food Shops.

Tom Hardy, KaBloom franchise owner, told CSP Daily News that he potentially could put in more units. But it really requires a strong alliance with the store, and at this point, we™re [image-nocss] more into helping grow our stores than just getting spread too thin. You have to be deliberate about it and be responsive to each store. Some stores require a little something different than others.

He noted that c-stores excel at foodservice, lottery and cigarettes, and that flowers represents another profit center that thrives on convenience. You have to catch people at the right time. We have a terrific weekend business”Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday. Sunday morning is a good time”maybe people going somewhere after church want to grab a bouquet. So it™s putting the flowers where the people are, rather than just expecting them to come into your [flower shop], Hardy said.

We designed our own bouquets for the kiosks and they are specially made for us in South America, Hardy said. We made the bouquets on a stem-by-stem basis to provide captivating designs that can be trusted as long lasting flowers, available on an affordable basis. We are aligned with terrific partners and continuously visit all our sites to ensure the highest quality flowers.

KaBloom introduced and is now expanding the concept of selling fresh flowers from c-store kiosks. KaBloom of Pembroke is a full-service florist owned by Pembroke, Mass.-based The Hardy Flower Co. Inc., which in addition to its remote kiosks, operates one additional full-service retail store in Mashpee, Mass.

KaBloom of Pembroke™s flowers are now available at c-stores in Fall River, Assonet, East Freetown, Middleboro, South Middleboro, Wareham, Plymouth, Falmouth, Mashpee, Taunton, Randolph and Hanover, Mass. All of the remote stores offer a variety of KaBloom™s own fresh-cut bouquets and roses, including single roses and small arrangements.
