Rutter’s Embraces Local Procurement

Adds new category-management role to meet demand for fresh and healthier products

YORK, Pa. -- Local products are about to get a boost at Rutter’s, which has created a new position focused on searching for products closer to home.

Cheri Booth, formerly foodservice quality assurance manager, is now the convenience-store chain’s fresh and local category manager, a position created as consumers show increased demand for local, fresh and healthier products.

“We think that deserves a dedicated person to make sure we are providing our customers with the highest-quality local products possible,” said Ryan Krebs, Rutter’s director of foodservice. “We know that Cheri will do a great job in this new role and cannot wait to see what the future holds for her and this new position.”

Booth will report to Krebs and will oversee all aspects of local, fresh procurement, including produce, seasonal fruits and vegetables, foodservice, snacks, beverages, beer and wine.

With roots dating back to 1747, Rutter’s is the oldest family-owned food company in the United States, according to the company. With nearly 70 c-stores, York. Pa.-based Rutter’s (formerly Rutter’s Farm Stores) ranked No. 92 in CSP’s2017 Top 202 list of the largest c-store chains in the United States.
