S. Abraham & Sons Swings for 'Grand Slam'

28th annual trade show plays up baseball theme

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- "The Grand Slam--Spring is in Full Swing" is the theme for the 2014 S. Abraham & Sons Inc. (SAS) Vendor Exhibit & Trade Show at the DeVos Place Convention Center in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Buyer's at this year's show--the company's 28th annual event, will represent approximately 1,500 stores.

The show opens on Feb. 27 at 9:00 a.m. for multi store owners and at 2:00 p.m. for all customers. The show continues on Feb. 28 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Both days will begin with singing of the National Anthem and a parade of manufacturer mascots.

The show will feature 150 booths, representing 253 manufacturers; 22 suppliers will represent 104 new items for SAS. Customers will place their orders on a USB flash drive which then allows them to take the flash drive home with their show orders.

Home Plate Celebration is the theme for Thursday evening's trade show entertainment. It will begin with a sitdown dinner and dessert and continues with music from Detroit's Simone Vitale Band; a "stump the ump" segment featuring retired professional umpires; casino games; and more.

Leveraging the baseball theme, the "Third Base Convenience Store" will be the "last stop before home" featuring a great selection of product mix, merchandising concepts, fixtures and more. The "Field of Dreams" food court will offer Fruit Ridge Farms Sandwiches, Sub and Salads, Red Hots from Hot off the Grill, along with Beantown and Joe Coffee and more.

A highlight to the 2014 SAS Vendor Exhibit & Trade Show will be a new Jeep raffle giveaway. Based on qualifying purchases one customer will win a 2014 Jeep Wrangler.

Grand Rapids-based SAS is a wholesale distributor specializing in the convenience food industry, servicing retail stores throughout the Midwest. It distributes 12,000 items to approximately 3,600 convenience store and other retail customers in nine states, from two distribution centers.
