SAS Restructures Marketing Department

Anderson retires, Bennett, Leonard assume additional responsibilities

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- After 27 years as vice president of marketing for convenience store channel distributor S. Abraham & Sons Inc. (SAS), James Anderson is retiring on Sept. 20. With Anderson's departure, SAS is realigning its marketing department.

Anderson's career began at Viking Wholesale Grocery in Muskegon, Mich., where he was employed for 11 years, followed by six years at L&L Jiroch, a Grand Rapids, Mich.-based convenience store wholesaler.

With the realignment, George H. Bennett, vice president of sales, will assume the additional responsibility of marketing. Bennett's new title is vice president of sales and marketing. He will lead all sales, marketing and promotional programs for customers.

James A. Leonard, CFO and vice president of administration, will assume the additional responsibility of procurement and inventory management.

Reporting directly to Bennett will be senior category managers Gary Dietrich and Debbie Shaffer.

Stacey Camp becomes the senior purchasing manager, reporting to Leonard.

Kaye Powell, director of trade relations, will assume the new position of vice president of trade relations and event planning. Brenda Francisco, manager of sales administration, is accepting the new position of senior manager of retail programs.

Grand Rapids-based SAS is a convenience store supplier, with distribution centers in Grand Rapids and Indianapolis, serving retailers in nine states.
