TA Inks Two Publication Deals

Renews contract for Road King with expanded offering; widens Trucker distribution
WESTLAKE, Ohio -- TravelCenters of America LLC (TA) said on Tuesday that it has renewed a publishing contract with Parthenon Publishing, the publisher of Road King magazine. And on Wednesday, TA announced that it has entered into a new agreement with Target Media Partners Operating Co. to distribute Target Media's trucking newspaper The Trucker along with a variety of driver publications.

Nashville, Tenn.-based Parthenon will also provide advertising sales representation for TA for a variety of existing and new media at TA and Petro Stopping Center locations [image-nocss] through an entity named TravelCenter Media. The expanded media opportunities include: Road King. A bimonthly magazine for professional truck drivers. Interstate SpeedZone. A website created by Parthenon that is connected to TA's Interstate SpeedZone Wi-fi network, which receives more than 80,000 visitors per month. Location media. Parthenon will offer advertising space on location wall media, fuel island pumptoppers and restaurant menus among others. Digital media. Email newsletter sponsorship, website sponsorship and in-store audio. Custom media. Custom media creation for marketers wanting to engage professional drivers. Parthenon will also be responsible for expanding the reach of advertising opportunities, formerly limited to Road King distributed only at TA branded sites, such that advertisers will also gain circulation to Petro customers. The companies project total circulation to be about 300,000, which Parthenon said it believes is the highest circulation count in the trucking/travel center industry.

Road King has previously only been distributed through 165 TA-branded locations.

"We are pleased to earn the continued confidence of TA for its important customer communications vehicles," said Bobby Stark, president of Parthenon. "And, we look forward to helping TA offer marketers a variety of new and existing ways to engage drivers at their locations."

Separately, TA has entered into a new agreement with Target Media, Los Angeles, to distribute The Trucker, along with a variety of driver publications such as Trucker's Connection and TruckJobSeekers.com at TA and Petro locations effective June 1.

Target Media already distributes its publications at TA sites and has so since 2002. With the new agreement, these publications will be added to Petro locations beginning in June 2010.

Customers of both TA and Petro will find these publications available for free in high-traffic and visible areas within the full-service facilities of the TA and Petro brands.

TravelCenters of America, headquartered in Westlake, Ohio, is a leading travel center business with 230 facilities in 41 states and Canada operating under the TravelCenters of America and Petro brands. With locations on interstate exits, TA and Petro offers their customers diesel and gasoline fueling services, full and quick-service restaurants, heavy truck maintenance services, 24-hour convenience stores, electronic communication (WiFi) and other services, all within large, high-traffic facilities.
