ROCKLAND, Mass. -- Following months of research and planning, convenience store retailer Tedeschi Food Shops is now offering more selection and higher-quality fresh fruits and vegetables to its customers under a new fresh produce program.
Features of the program include a new ordering system and a new supplier that packs the produce in smaller pack sizes.
Working directly with a produce wholesaler and delivering product to stores three times a week will enable Tedeschi to offer great prices and fresh produce to customers every day of the year.
Core offerings will include bananas, apples, oranges, lettuce, celery, potatoes and onions. In larger-volume stores, the program also features strawberries, blueberries, personal size watermelons, cantaloupes, corn, fall squash, pumpkins and clementines, among other seasonal items.
The fresh produce offering makes the chain's c-stores "a convenient alternative to the grocery store," the company said.
Established in 1923 in Rockland, Mass., Tedeschi Food Shops is a family-owned and -operated convenience store chain with more than $600 million in annual revenue. The company operates 191 locations in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. It offers a family of proprietary brands that includes TD's Deli and Tedeschi Fresh Foods, Tedeschi Select and Tedeschi Fuel.
