7-Eleven Stores to Host Comcast Bill Payment

More than 7,700 locations offering option via PayNearMe

PHILADELPHIA -- 7-Eleven Inc. has partnered with Comcast, which is offering a new payment option for customers who prefer to pay their TV, internet or phone bills with cash. Through a partnership with PayNearMe, Comcast has launched a new feature on the Xfinity My Account app that enables customers to pay their bills using cash at more than 7,700 participating 7-Eleven convenience stores.

Previously, 7-Eleven has partnered with the federal government and PayNearMe on income taxes and health insurance payments, with William Hill and PayNearMe on sports betting and with PayNearMe on bill payment services.

Combined with the more than 500 Xfinity stores, Comcast customers will have access to more than 8,000 cash payment locations across the country.

With most 7-Eleven stores open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, cash-paying customers now have an around-the-clock option to pay their bills close to home.

“Improving the customer experience is our top priority, which is why we’re giving customers more options when it comes to interacting with us,” said Mark Allen, vice president of strategy and development and customer service for Comcast Cable. “About 5% of our customers prefer to pay their bills in cash each month. This new partnership gives those customers a payment option that is convenient and simple.”

Users go to the Pay Bill section of the Xfinity My Account app and select the new Cash via PayNearMe option. They choose the amount they want to pay and follow the instructions provided by PayNearMe until they receive a bar code. They head to a participating 7-Eleven store, scan the bar code on their phone and pay the amount they selected.

There is a $1.25 PayNearMe convenience fee per transaction.

7-Eleven will provide a paper receipt, and users will receive a digital receipt on their phone confirming the payment amount. The payment will post to the account within 48 business hours.

Philadelphia-based Comcast Cable is one of the nation's largest video, high-speed internet and phone providers to residential customers under the Xfinity brand and also provides these services to businesses.

PayNearMe, Sunnyvale, Calif., is a technology company that offers consumers an electronic way to pay with cash using their mobile device. The PayNearMe Bill Pay app enables consumers to pay for cable and phone bills, insurance, utilities, rent, loans and more with cash. Consumers can pay bills at nearly 17,000 retail locations in PayNearMe's nationwide network, which includes 7-Eleven and Family Dollar stores.

Based in Irving, Texas, 7-Eleven operates, franchises and licenses more than 10,700 7-Eleven convenience stores in North America. Globally, approximately 59,500 7-Eleven stores serve customers in 17 countries.
