AIR-serv Pledges $500,000 From Tire Inflation Machines

AIR for Charity joins with Feed My Starving Children to save hungry kids
MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. -- Memorial Day drivers can enjoy the holiday even more this year. A new program, AIR for Charity, supports efforts to feed millions of starving children and makes motor-vehicle travel safer, less costly and friendlier to the environment. AIR for Charity has pledged $500,000 from AIR-serv air machines at convenience stores, gas stations and car washes to provide nutritious meals to starving children around the world.

AIR-serv will donate $100,000 per year for five years to Feed My Starving Children, a nonprofit organization that annually saves millions [image-nocss] of lives in nearly 70 nations. Drivers using AIR-serv air machines to maintain tire pressure will be helping feed severely malnourished children at no extra effort or expense.

The company offers tire inflation and vacuum services at 65,000 locations, it said.

"AIR-serv's innovative AIR for Charity initiative will not only help fund our food programs for severely malnourished kids," said Mark Crea, Feed My Starving Children's executive director. "It will also alert thousands of drivers to our work, regularly remind them of the need, and make it easier for them to know they're contributing to a better world. We're extremely pleased to welcome AIR-serv as such an outstanding corporate supporter."

Andy Carr, executive vice president of Mendota Heights, Minn.- based AIR-serv, said, "We're gratified to know that Feed My Starving Children can save more lives thanks to drivers using AIR-serv tire inflation machines. Vehicles with properly inflated tires also operate more efficiently, reduce harmful emissions and increase safety."

Volunteers pack vegetarian-friendly meals, enabling Feed My Starving Children to use 94% of its donations for food programs. Developed by food scientists, the meals are packaged dry and cost 19 cents each. In starvation, the human body draws on reserves and must be restored with specific nutrients. In 2009, some 400,000 volunteers packed nearly 97 million meals.

Feed My Starving Children, Coon Rapids, Minn., is a faith-based nonprofit dedicated to saving the lives of starving children regardless of religion, ethnicity, or political circumstances.
