Bordentown, N.J., Petro Stopping Center Gets New Medical Clinic

TravelCenters of America also launching Get Moving. StayFit. Program May 1

WESTLAKE, Ohio -- TravelCenters of America LLC, operator of the TA and Petro Stopping Centers travel center brands, has announced the opening of a new medical clinic at the Petro location at I-295, Exit 57, in Bordentown, N.J.

This is Infinity Medical Services LLC's first medical center; it is the first medical clinic offering in New Jersey in the TA/Petro branded chain, its eighteenth medical service nationwide.

The Bordentown clinic, operated by Infinity Medical, is staffed by board-certified physicians and nurse practitioners and offers quality U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) medical exams and a full range of medical services for professional drivers, including illness and injury treatment, wellness exams, screenings, laboratory services and vaccinations.

The clinic has an onsite pharmacy to provide an added convenience and cost-effective option for patients.

"FMCSA [Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration] rules in effect beginning May 2014, require professional driver medical fitness exams be conducted by certified medical examiners with an FMCSA National Registry," said Tom O'Brien, president and CEO of TravelCenters of America.

Infinity Medical also has U.S. DOT FMCSA-certified technicians on site, available to collect samples for employment-related screenings, using DOT-approved equipment. Medical Review Officer (MRO) services are also available, and Infinity Medical sends all screenings out to certified laboratories.

The clinic will hold its grand opening on April 11. TravelCenters of America is inviting all professional drivers and fleets to meet the staff, tour the facility and enter to win a free DOT physical examination. It will serve refreshments, and the first 100 visitors will receive a free lunch cooler. Fleets can also take advantage of business account discounted pricing during the grand opening.

Farmingdale, N.J.-based Infinity Medical is a leader in mobile DOT medical services serving New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware.

In other health-related company news, TravelCenters of America will launch the free Get Moving. StayFit. Program on May 1 to help drivers focus on nutrition and physical fitness. It developed 'Get Moving. StayFit.' in cooperation with the President's Challenge, the main program of the President's Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition.

While tailored specifically for professional drivers, the foundation of the program mimics the Presidential Active Lifestyle Award (PALA+) Program, which encourages Americans to lead healthy, active lifestyles. The plus sign ("+") after the PALA acronym signifies the addition of healthy eating to the program originally designed to promote an increase in physical activity.

"TravelCenters chose to partner with the President's Challenge and base our program off of the PALA+ program because of their longstanding commitment to promoting fitness and healthy eating for adults and youth throughout the country. The President's Challenge has been around since the 1960s, and the program has recognized millions of people for their fitness achievements," said O'Brien.

TA and Petro have been offering professional drivers the opportunity to pre-enroll in the program at any TA or Petro location through the UltraONE driver kiosk since April 1.

Beginning May 1, drivers will see all program components appear on the UltraONE kiosk Get Moving. StayFit. screen. For each week in their eight-week program, drivers choose and commit to 30 minutes of physical activity per day for at least five days a week. Participants can also earn their activity credit by wearing a pedometer and logging 8,500 steps per day. The drivers can record all activity at the UltraONE kiosk.

The program includes encouragement to focus on a weekly nutritional goal to exercise and eat healthy. The UltraONE kiosk makes it easy to track, and automatically provides required information to the President's Challenge program. Drivers who complete six of the eight weeks of the Challenge can redeem their virtual Apples accumulated through the UltraONE kiosk for StayFit prizes, and those who complete the Get Moving. StayFit. PALA Challenge will receive an embroidered TA/Petro PALA patch, developed specifically for this program.

"We want to help drivers set and meet their own goals for staying healthier on the road," O'Brien said. "Since launching our StayFit program in 2010, we have had thousands of drivers use our free fitness rooms, walking trails and basketball hoops at our locations across the country. And our StayFit restaurant menu options, as well as the Travel Store fresh and healthy offerings are popular with drivers looking to live healthier."
