BP's ampm Teams Up With 2011 Big West Basketball Tournament

Retailer offering promotional opportunities, store rewards
LA PALMA, Calif. -- As title sponsor of the 2011 Big West Tournament, BP's ampm convenience store brand is focused on ensuring that students, alumni and fans of Big West schools can enjoy their experience even more during this year's tournament, with some promotional opportunities and ampm store rewards. The 2011 ampm Big West Tournament will take place March 10-12 at the Honda Center Anaheim.

BP's ampm and the Big West are launching all-inclusive programs to reward fans for showing passion for their school. A dedicated event website was launched January 26 and the ampm [image-nocss] Big West Tour that visits all nine campuses has already commenced. At each of the tour locations, students and fans are being encouraged to enter a text message sweepstakes, which will see one lucky winner receive $500 in textbooks to help them through their semester.

In addition, the partnership will see ampm featured prominently on Big West TV broadcasts, Anaheim Ducks broadcasts and at the Honda Center Anaheim throughout this year's tournament.

"What could be more fitting for a brand that delivers 'Too much good stuff' than a tie-in program with college basketball's most exciting time of the year?" said Bill Fry, president of La Palma, Calif.-based ampm.

"The Big West Conference is delighted to bring in a prestigious brand like ampm for our 2011 basketball tournament at the Honda Center," said Big West Commissioner Dennis Farrell. "This relationship will not only provide an opportunity for the Big West story to reach a broader audience, but will also provide an avenue for ampm to engage an important demographic constituency on all our member campuses."

The Big West Tournament is the oldest NCAA Division I post-season basketball tournament in the West, dating back to 1976 when the conference was known as the Pacific Coast Athletic Association. The Big West is comprised of nine schools located throughout the state of California. Member schools include: Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge, Long Beach State, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, Pacific and UC Davis.

The ampm brand was founded in 1978 in Southern California by ARCO. ARCO-branded ampm stores are currently found in California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington and Arizona; BP-branded ampm stores are located in Chicago, Orlando, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Atlanta. There are also more than 1,500 stores in Brazil and Japan.
