Chevron Polishing Up Apple Pay

Customers will be able to pay for fuel, goods, services at Chevron, Texaco with iPhone

SAN RAMON, Calif. -- Chevron USA Inc. has announced that it will integrate with Apple Pay, a new service that transforms mobile payments with an easy, secure and private way to pay. Apple Pay will be accepted at more than 3,000 Chevron and Texaco convenience stores including all Chevron and Texaco ExtraMile locations before the holiday season.

Customers will soon be able to pay for fuel and other goods and services inside convenience stores at participating Chevron and Texaco stations with their iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch, upon availability. Customers can also access compatible apps with Apple Pay when paying for goods and services with the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3.

Customers will continue to receive all of the rewards and benefits offered by their credit and debit cards.

"We are thrilled to innovate in the area of retail fuel transactions by making the customer experience for payment and loyalty as smooth, seamless and secure as possible," said Glenn Johnson, general manager for Americas products marketing sales and services at Chevron. "Offering Apple Pay to our customers further solidifies our commitment to delivering high-quality products and services while in a secure and convenient manner."

Chevron is working towards making Apple Pay available to the remaining Chevron and Texaco network by early 2015 and continues to work alongside Apple Pay to offer fuel transaction solutions outside at the fueling dispensers.

Security and privacy are at the core of Chevron and Apple Pay. When customers add a credit or debit card with Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device or on Apple servers. Instead, a unique device account number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the secure element on the device. Each transaction is authorized with a one-time unique dynamic security code, instead of using the security code from the back of the card.
