CSA Adds Property & Liability Insurance Program

Tailors coverage for fuel, restaurants, auto repair, car wash, pumps, canopies, more

NORMAN, Okla. -- Convenience Store Alliance (CSA), the Phillips 66 branded retailer buying program, has announced a new property and liability insurance offering, along with the rollout of an online premium calculator.

Convenience-store operators can go to the online calculator, plug in numbers regarding their businesses and view premium estimates for general liability and property insurance.

As part of the standard CSA plan, the new program includes spoilage insurance to cover instances such as electricity outages resulting in spoiled merchandise. It also includes insurance for business income interruptions, benefiting business owners with inoperable stores damaged by storms or other natural disasters.

CSA’s membership of approximately 1,000 convenience stores enabled CSA preferred supplier Tedford Insurance to negotiate the policy with a new national carrier, Philadelphia Insurance Cos., resulting in more competitive rates for independent operators across the United States.

“We’ve been able to put together an aggressively priced program that features a quick, easy online calculator that, to my knowledge, is the first of its kind in our industry,” said Mark Kochner, CEO of Tedford Insurance, Jenks, Okla. “This program allows us to offer coverage that is specifically designed for convenience stores. We look forward to working with our CSA members to help them understand the terms, conditions and options that have been made available to them.”

Norman, Okla.-based CSA helps independent convenience-store operators nationwide to compete with large chains. It gives storeowners access to reduced costs on products, resources to boost business efficiency and solutions for business growth. For the western half of the United States, CSA is the Phillips 66 Branded Retailer Buying Program and is available to more than 7,000 branded sites that currently sell Phillips 66, Conoco or 76 branded gasoline. Dealers and fuel distributors outside the exclusive territories are also eligible to participate, regardless of brand affiliation.
