Fuel Rewards Network Program Comes to Chicago

Consumers can lower fuel prices at Shell through everyday spending with new loyalty program

CHICAGO -- Drivers in the greater Chicago area now have the opportunity to participate in the Fuel Rewards Network (FRN) program, a new cents-per-gallon rewards program that Shell and loyalty leader Excentus have recently made available.

The FRN program is currently available in more than 100 U.S. markets and will expand to nearly 200 markets coast-to-coast by the end of the year.

The program offers consumers a variety of ways to earn rewards through everyday purchases of things like food, clothing and household goods which can be redeemed for fuel savings at participating Shell stations. While the different ways to save vary by market, some consumers already using the program have paid as little as one-cent per gallon at participating Shell stations by redeeming Fuel Rewards savings they have earned through the FRN program for rewards at the pump. The average consumer savings are 33 cents per gallon, the company said.

Beyond earning rewards by shopping at hundreds of online merchants from the Online Mall including Bass Pro Shops, BestBuy.com, Sears.com and many more, Chicagoland consumers can also earn rewards at many of their favorite local restaurants such as Romano's Macaroni Grill, Anyway's Chicago Restaurant, Blind Faith Cafe, Yolk, Park 52 and many others.

Chicago consumers can also take advantage of this program by combining their multiple rewards offers--or cents per gallon savings--together for potentially big savings instantly at the pump. The savings can be redeemed on all grades of Shell gasolines and Shell diesel at participating stations, up to 20 gallons per purchase, per vehicle.

To participate in the program, Chicagoland consumers need to pick up a free FRN Card at any one of the more than 380 participating local Shell stations and activate it by visiting fuelrewards.com and following the steps to start earning rewards on fuel. Consumers can also request an FRN Card online.

Chicago-area consumers can currently save with the FRN program in the following four ways:

*Online Mall. Access nearly 700 brand name online merchants offering five cents per gallon for every $50 spent. Some online merchants may offer two times, five times, 10 times rewards or more.

*Dining. Earn 10 cents per gallon for every $50 spent when dining at more than 10,000 participating restaurant locations nationwide.

*eCoupons. Digital coupons available for select retailers in select markets provide additional cents per gallon savings when the digital coupon is selected at fuelrewards.com and the item is subsequently purchased at a participating retailer.

*Grocery & Other Programs. Consumers can buy the everyday things they need and earn Fuel Rewards savings from participating Jewel-Osco stores and retailers. Consumers just link their participating grocer or other retailer loyalty card to their FRN Account to combine their rewards for even more savings at the pump at Shell in select markets.

Dallas-based Excentus provides marketing and promotional programs and services utilizing price-rollback discounts at the pump as the ultimate consumer reward. Through its patented fuel-rewards systems and methods, the FRN program provides its members with the opportunity to earn free fuel simply by purchasing the things they normally would from more than 1,000 retail locations, nearly 700 online merchants and 10,000-plus restaurants and redeeming their rewards at participating fuel stations across the country.

Houston-based Shell Oil Products US, a subsidiary of Shell Oil Co., is a leader in the refining, transportation and marketing of fuels, with a network of approximately 6,000 Shell-branded gas stations in the western United States. Another 8,300 Shell-branded stations in the eastern and southern United States are managed by Motiva Enterprises LLC, a joint venture between Shell Oil and Saudi Refining Inc. Shell Oil is an affiliate of the Royal Dutch Shell plc, a global group of energy and petrochemical companies.
