Gulf Oil, Boston Red Sox Amp Up Partnership

Gulf Electricity becomes official power supplier to Fenway Park

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- Gulf Oil LP is now the official electricity supplier to Fenway Park. Through its Gulf Electricity division, the Gulf brand is "amping up" its decades-long relationship with the Boston Red Sox by now powering everything from Fenway's lighting towers above the "Green Monster" left-field wall to the team clubhouses, concession stands and everything in between.

Gulf Oil entered into the retail electricity market via the launch of Gulf Electricity in January (see Related Content below for previous CSP Daily Newscoverage). Gulf Electricity will offer residential and commercial customers the opportunity to save up to 10% on the energy portion of their power bills by switching from their traditional utility suppliers.

"We are proud to deepen our relationship with our longtime partners, the Boston Red Sox," said Gulf Oil president Ron Sabia. "As each of our enterprises continues to innovate, it is fitting for Gulf to introduce its new electricity service to Massachusetts consumers first at Fenway."

Gulf is not scheduled to begin electricity service in Massachusetts until later this year. Meanwhile, Gulf Electricity has begun providing power to residents and businesses in Connecticut.

"We are using our expertise in sourcing and distributing energy efficiently to bring savings to consumers who want the best value from a company they can rely on," said Gulf Oil senior vice president and chief marketing officer Rick Dery.

Gulf's relationship with the Red Sox and Fenway Park is decades old, and many loyal fans light up when they see the Gulf Oil logo in left field next to the "Fisk Pole." In recognition of the longtime partnership, Gulf will appear in, and is sponsoring, the upcoming documentary InsideFenway Park: An Icon at 100. The program was produced by National Geographic and is scheduled to debut on PBS stations across the country on March 26 and 27, 2012.

Framingham, Mass.-based Gulf Oil is a national, branded supplier of motor fuels throughout the United States and its territories. The company launched Gulf Electricity in January 2012, which currently provides discounted electricity service to consumers and small businesses in Connecticut. Gulf remains one of the Northeast's largest wholesalers of refined petroleum products and is well on its way up the rankings in the rest of the country, too. Gulf Oil distributes motor fuels through a network of more than 2,500 branded gasoline retail centers, 12 proprietary oil terminals and more than 130 other supply points. Gulf Oil supplies gasoline, heating oil, diesel fuel, jet fuel and kerosene through its terminal network.
