Gulf Oil Launches New Visa Card

Expected to strengthen customer loyalty, drive new, repeat customers

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- Gulf Oil LP has launched the new Gulf Visa Card, the company’s latest move to provide its dealers with ways to reward customer loyalty.

Gulf Visa Card

Gulf Visa Card holders earn points every time they use their card, at Gulf stations and elsewhere. Points are then automatically redeemed as Gulf Gift Cards that can be used at any branded Gulf location to purchase gas or other items.

“Millions of consumers make purchases at Gulf stations every day, and we are delighted to be able to reward them for their loyalty, and in turn to benefit our dealers by giving customers yet another great reason to increase their visits and purchases at Gulf locations,” said Rick Dery, Gulf Oil senior vice president and chief sales and marketing officer. “The Gulf Visa Card is another example of our commitment to providing our dealers with loyalty programs designed to increase revenue and maximize the value of the Gulf brand.”

The Gulf Visa Card, issued through Gulf’s partnership with First Bankcard, a division of First National Bank of Omaha and a leading issuer of credit cards, has no limit on loyalty points that can be earned.

Cardholders earn three points for every $1 spent on any purchase at participating Gulf stations, and one point for every $1 spent elsewhere.

Points are redeemed in 2,000 point increments. Each 2,000 points equate to a $20 Gulf Gift Card. Gulf Gift Cards will be sent automatically to customers in increments of $20, $40, $60, $80 and $100.

Customers can use their Gulf Gift Cards to purchase gas, services or other items at any Gulf-branded gas station.

The Gulf Rewards program gives customers added incentive to shop--and keep shopping--at Gulf stations, the company said. It will drive repeat business and encourage new customers to make Gulf their preferred brand, it added.

The company is supporting the program with promotional materials for dealers that it rolled out to stations in the fall. Also, it does not charge a fee to Gulf stations for processing this card, making this an inexpensive way to encourage loyalty at their stations.
