Jiffy Mart, Customers Give Back to Community

Retailer participating in October promotions; Ravens rally raves
WESTMINSTER, Md. -- Jiffy Mart, a subsidiary of Tevis Oil, is spending the month of October contributing to the welfare of the communities in which it does business. All four locations are participating in three programs directed at good health.

As part of its programs, Jiffy Mart will contribute five cents of each purchase of a 16-oz. cup of Lacas coffee to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research.

Jiffy Mart will accept contributions for the Carroll Hospital Center fundraiser, "Pump Up the Health in Carroll County." Customers will be able to purchase [image-nocss] a Pump Up the Health in Carroll County symbol for a dollar, sign it and have it hung in the location where it was purchased.

In addition, Martin's Chips will contribute 25 cents from the purchase of an 8-oz. or 9-oz. package of Martin's Kettle Chips to the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition's "Chip In to Find a Cure for Breast Cancer."

When customers visit the Martin's Kettle Chip display, they can fill out a Jiffy Mart entry form for a chance to win a Breast Cancer Awareness Month Pink NFL Ravens Rally Towel.

Tom Moser, general manager of Westminster, Md.-based Jiffy Mart, said, "The associates of Jiffy Mart are excited to partner with the Carroll Hospital Center, The Susan G. Komen Foundation and Martin's Chip In to Find a Cure. Jiffy Mart strives to be good neighbor in the communities that we serve and we enjoy being involved in such a worthy cause."

Customers can join Jiffy Mart and Tevis Oil in Finksburg, Hampstead and two locations in Westminster in supporting these causes during the entire month of October. In other company news, a Jiffy Mart store in Westminster rallied on late August to bid adieu to the 2010 session of the Baltimore Ravens football team's training camp in Westminster. Both the store and the parking lot were decorated with purple Ravens banners, window signage and purple petunias in the yard.

The Ravens held their last practice in Westminster for the season, and the team packed up and headed back to their Owings Mills, Md., training complex.

On hand for the event was Poe, the teams mascot, the TNT Explosion Cheerleaders and local Carroll County radio station WTTR. The store offered free samples of Subway sandwiches, h10o Water, Dynobites Ice cream and Martin's Potato Chips. WTTR DJs Johnny Dark and Jack Edwards were on site to give away game tickets and to interact with the fans. There were additional giveaways of a Ray Rice Baltimore Ravens' Jersey, along with "Baltimore Football Starts Here" t-shirts by Jiffy Mart.

Moser said, "I'm a big Baltimore Ravens fan, and Jiffy Mart is proud to support them in our community. Fans visited from both inside and outside the county, and everyone enjoyed having them at training camp in Westminster. The Ravens rally was a fun community event for both our customers and associates, and a great time was had by all in attendance."
