CINCINNATI -- Customers can now earn and redeem fuel points to save up to $2 off per gallon of gasoline at The Kroger Co.'s fuel centers, the company announced. Its "Hot Savings on Fuel, All Summer Long" promotion doubles the maximum points redeemable for a discount.
Now, customers can earn and redeem up to 2,000 fuel rewards points through regular purchases and special offers from May 27 to September 30, 2012, it said.
"Last year, we increased the potential savings up to $1 per gallon at most of our stores around the country. Customers continue looking for ways to save, and we're delighted to offer them even more control at the pump by doubling their potential savings up to $2 per gallon all summer long," said Michael J. Donnelly, Kroger's senior vice president of merchandising. "In addition to everyday low prices in all of our stores, this is another way we're rewarding our customers for choosing to shop with us."
Customers can earn 100 fuel points for every $100 in groceries purchased. Now, up to 2,000 points can be redeemed for up to $2 in savings at Kroger fuel centers in one fillup.
Most gift cards earn double points every day. For every purchase of $50 in gift cards from Kroger's Gift Card Mall, customers receive 100 fuel points. Currently, Kroger is offering quadruple fuel points on most gift cards as part of our Dads and Grads savings event.
When customers use the Kroger 1-2-3 Rewards Visa, they can earn an additional five cents off the cost of a gallon when they redeem points. New cardholders can save 25 cents a gallon during their first three months as cardholders when they redeem at least 100 fuel points.
Every qualifying prescription earns customers 50 fuel points.
Customers can earn and redeem points at most but not all Kroger "Family of Stores" locations, and restrictions vary by local market. For example, accumulation of fuel points for savings above 10 cents per gallon is not available at Kroger fuel centers in Alabama, Louisiana and Missouri due to regulatory restrictions; accumulation is also not available at Fred Meyer and QFC stores in Oregon and Washington State; and Ralphs stores in California are offering a special double points promotion that allows customers to earn 20 cents off per gallon when they redeem 100 points, also starting May 27.
Kroger, the nation's largest traditional grocery retailer, has 2,435 supermarkets and multi-department stores in 31 states under two-dozen local banner names including Kroger, City Market, Dillons, Jay C, Food 4 Less, Fred Meyer, Fry's, King Soopers, QFC, Ralphs and Smith's. It also operates 791 convenience stores, 1,090 supermarket fuel centers, among other types of retail outlets.
