Kum & Go Offers New Military Pay Benefit

To support armed forces, retailer supplementing income loss up to 12 months
WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- As part of Kum & Go LC's continued support of its associates in 2010, it has announced a new military pay benefit. The retailer said that it is proud to support its associates who serve in the armed forces. In 2009, Kum & Go displayed Statement of Support for the Guard and Reserve certificates in all 430 stores. In response, Kum & Go was awarded the State Chairman's Award from the Iowa Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).

"At Kum & Go, supporting military service is important to us. For our associates currently [image-nocss] serving in the U.S. armed forces, we want them to know we are here for them now and when they return from theatre," said Marcy Klipfel, Kum & Go's senior vice president of Grow People. "We're proud of them, and we know it's vital for us to support them and their families."

The new military pay benefit offers financial support to those National Guard and reservists who are deployed to tours of duty.

It is available to all current active and deployed military personnel employed by Kum & Go for a minimum of 13 weeks. If an associate experiences a loss of income due to a military deployment, Kum & Go will supplement the difference in their base pay for up to 12 months.

Family-owned Kum & Go, based in West Des Moines, Iowa, has more than 425 convenience stores in 11 states (Iowa, Arkansas, Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wyoming). It has more than 3,600 associates.

In addition to a wide selection of products, Kum & Go offers a proprietary mix of products under the Hiland brand name. Other proprietary product offerings include Java Ridge Premium Coffee, Napa Creek and Sea Ridge wines, Go Fresh Market sandwiches and Nuclear energy drinks.

Kum & Go has maintained 50 years of dedicated community commitment, each year returning at least 10% of its profits to the communities it serves.
