MACS Enriches Children's Miracle Network Richmond

Donates $10,000 through BP's Fueling Communities program

RICHMOND, Va. -- Mid-Atlantic Convenience Stores (MACS), in partnership with the BP's Fueling Communities program, presented a check for $10,000 to Children's Miracle Network Richmond.

The grant will help Children's Miracle Network Hospitals continue to offer support to the Children's Hospital of Richmond at Virginia Commonwealth University. Fueling Communities, a philanthropic program BP created to help local BP business owners care for their communities, worked with MACS to make the local grant possible.

In addition to the grant, MACS has been a long-time supporter of Children's Miracle Network Richmond. For the past couple of years, MACS and its affiliated dealers have supported children's healthcare causes throughout the greater Richmond area, with Children's Miracle Network Richmond being the primary focus of the company's campaigns and the recipient of a $1,000 donation at the grand opening of MACS' Business Support Center in April 2011.

Many of the retail stores within MACS' network have also participated in a variety of fundraising initiatives, including car washes and carnivals.

"Our company's support of Children's Miracle Network Richmond throughout the years has been a unifying cause from the retail stores to the executive leadership team," said Dan Pastor, CEO of MACS. "We look forward to seeing the impact this grant will have on children and families in Richmond."

MACS's Derek Gaskins and Lynn Lambrecht presented the check to Rachel Bruni, executive director of Children's Miracle Network Richmond.

"These funds will help us advance healthcare opportunities provided to children and families across Central Virginia," said Bruni. "From vital equipment purchases to research projects to educational support groups for our patients, these funds will go a long way in impacting the patients we are so privileged to serve."

For more than 80 years, Children's Hospital Foundation has been dedicated to funding and advocating for pediatric initiatives that improve the status of health care and the quality of life for children in our region. The Foundation provides support for the programs and initiatives of Children's Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) and the more than 150,000 children it serves each year, as well as other pediatric health care programs in the community.

Based in Richmond, Va., MACS is a leading convenience store operator in Maryland and Virginia. With a network of approximately 300 company-owned and dealer locations, in addition to its wholesale fuel distribution network, MACS is one of the largest convenience store networks and fuel distributors in the region.
