MACS Grants $10,000 to Central Virginia Food Bank

Makes donation through BP's "Fueling Communities" program

RICHMOND, Va. -- In partnership with the BP "Fueling Communities" program, Mid-Atlantic Convenience Stores (MACS) has presented a check of $10,000 to FeedMore's Central Virginia Food Bank.

The grant will help the Food Bank distribute 50,000 meals to the one-in-seven Central Virginians who live in food-insecure households. Fueling Communities, a philanthropic program BP created to help local BP business owners care for their communities, worked with MACS to make the local grant possible.

In addition to the grant, MACS has an ongoing commitment to address the issue of hunger in the Mid-Atlantic region, where the company operates. Throughout the past holiday season, associates at MACS' Business Support Center collected more than 1,000 pounds of food for the Central Virginia Food Bank.

"As a company, our work with FeedMore's Central Virginia Food Bank has made us more aware of the thousands of hungry individuals and families in our city, and it has made us determined to do our part to care for our neighbors," said Dan Pastor, CEO of MACS. "Partnering with BP's 'Fueling Communities' has allowed us to offer even more support to this organization and to impact this important cause that we believe in so strongly."

Gayle Hunter Haglund, FeedMore's chief philanthropy officer, said, "All of us at FeedMore are tremendously grateful for Mid-Atlantic Convenience Stores' support. Sadly, the need for hunger-relief continues to escalate as many of our neighbors cope with the effects of a struggling economy. As we pull together to find solutions and help one another, we contribute to a stronger region and invest in a promising future."
