SANTA CRUZ, Calif. -- The National Coalition of Associations of 7-Eleven Franchisees (NCASEF) has chosen Swim Across America (SAA) as its charity of choice for 2014.

Every year, worthy charities like Swim Across America benefit from the NCASEF's fundraising efforts, which last year included a cause equity campaign with vendor partners, as well as silent and live auctions and the Joe Saraceno Golf Tournament held at the NCASEF convention. This year's convention will be held July 12-16 in Orlando, Fla.

NCASEF and its 40 franchisee owners associations (FOA) around the country have a robust history of giving back. Over the past two years. NCASEF has raised more than $1 million dollars for various charities, including Hire Heroes USA, MDA and Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Local NCASEF FOA member organizations routinely hold golf tournaments, picnics and other charity fundraising events to benefit charitable organizations in their local areas.

"Our 7-Eleven family of franchisees is proud to be able to give back in ways that make life better for all Americans," said Joe Galea, chairman of the NCASEF. "Swim Across America is a fantastic organization doing literally lifesaving work to help those afflicted with cancer through research, prevention and treatment, and we applaud their work. We are honored to be able to designate them as this year's charity of choice and look forward to working with them throughout the year."

Founded in 1987 and based in Boston, Swim Across America is dedicated to raising money and awareness for cancer research, prevention and treatment through swimming-related events. With the help of hundreds of volunteers nationwide and past and current Olympians, SAA is helping find a cure for cancer through athleticism, community outreach and direct service. Now in its 27th year, SAA has raised more than $50 million for cancer research, prevention and treatment.

NCASEF is the national trade group for 7-Eleven storeowners in the United States, representing the interests of approximately 4,700 convenience store owners whose 6,067 franchise-owned stores employ more than 40,000 workers.
