Nell's has participating stores in Adams, Berks, Cumberland and York counties.
For every $100 spent on groceries, Gold Card grocery shoppers earn a savings of 10 cents per gallon [image-nocss] of gasoline. Additional cents-off savings can be earned by purchasing specially marked products.
As part of Gas Cash Rewards, Nell's issued new Gold Cards. The cards now have a magnetic stripe on the back so that they can be used at gasoline pumps.
For York, Pa.-based Rutter's, partnering with Nell's grocery chain was a logical next step, it said. Last fall, it introduced Rutter's Rewards, which allows customers to earn cents off gasoline by purchasing one of more than 1,600 everyday items bearing a special display icon. Rutter's Rewards are redeemed at the gasoline pump using a magnetic stripe card.
"In the first three months since we introduced Rutter's Rewards, we've put the card in the hands of more than 100,000 of our customers," said Scott Hartman, president and CEO of Rutter's. "We're able to reward customer loyalty, and customers can see an immediate benefit from continuing to shop at our stores. I'm sure Nell's grocery customers will make a similar connection."
Nell's Shurfine stores participating with the gas rewards redemption at Rutter's are in Carlisle (2), East Berlin, Hanover, Sinking Spring and Spry.
Nell's is owned by Associated Wholesalers Inc. a Robesonia, Pa.-based grocery wholesaler and retailer cooperative. AWI serves members and customers that operate supermarkets and convenience stores throughout the eastern United States.
Family-owned and third-generation managed, Rutter's operates 55 c-stores in York, Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin and Lancaster counties in Pennsylvania.
