Redbox Revs Up

E-Z Mart, Fastrac, Murphy Express, VPS add Coinstar's DVD rental kiosks
OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. -- E-Z Mart Stores Inc., Fastrac Markets, Murphy Express and VPS Convenience Store Group (Worsley Cos.) have all signed deals with movie rental kiosk provider redbox. The agreements will expand the redbox footprint to new convenience store locations in the Northeast, Southeast and Midwest.

Since launching its first c-store location in 2006, redbox has increased channel presence to thousands of locations across 52 retail banners nationwide. Convenience chains featuring redbox kiosks include 7-Eleven, Circle K, Pantry, ExxonMobil, Kum & Go and Stripes, [image-nocss] among others.

"The convenience store channel has played an important role in redbox's success and presents a great opportunity for future growth," said Mitch Lowe, president of redbox. "Our expanding convenience store presence makes renting and returning the latest DVD or Blu-ray Discs even easier for our consumers."

Each fully automated redbox kiosk holds 630 discs, representing up to 200 titles. Consumers use a touch screen to select their movies, swipe a valid credit card or debit card and go. For added convenience, customers can visit www.redbox.com to select their movie online or via the iPhone app from redbox and pick it up at the redbox location of their choice. To find the nearest redbox location, consumers can visit the website or text "redbox" to 50101 from a mobile phone.

Texarkana, Texas-based E-Z Mart operates nearly 300 c-stores in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Texas.

Fastrac Markets, East Syracuse, N.Y., operates 44 locations in the state of New York.

El Dorado, Ark.-based Murphy Oil Corp., along with its Murphy USA locations, operates more than 40 Murphy Express sites in 11 states.

VPS Convenience Store Group, Wilmington, N.C., operates 382 convenience stores in the Southeast and Midwest under the names Village Pantry, Scotchman, Young's Li'l Cricket Convenience Stores and Next Door Stores, as well as two truckstops: Wilmington Auto/Truck Stop and Derrick Truck Stop.

Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.-based Redbox Automated Retail LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Coinstar, offers new-release DVD rentals through its network of conveniently located, self-service kiosks. redbox has rented more than one billion DVDs and is available at approximately 24,000 locations nationwide, including select McDonald's restaurants, leading grocery stores and c-stores, select Walmart locations and Walgreens locations in select markets.
