TIO's Traction

Bill-payment kiosk operator grows with two utilities
BURNABY, B.C. -- TIO Networks Corp., a multi-channel, expedited bill-payment processor, recently added or expanded two bill-payment programs, one with electric utility Georgia Power and the other with cable-television company Cox Communications.

Working with Georgia Power, the company announced the launch of a self-service, automated bill-payment program in select retail stores in metropolitan Atlanta. The self-service, cash-accepting automated kiosks will enable Georgia Power customers to make bill payments via TIO's expedited bill-payment processing system.

The [image-nocss] kiosks are expected to be fully operational this winter. Using the touch-screen interface, customers will navigate through bill-pay applications in either English or Spanish, and insert cash directly into self-serve automated kiosks to securely complete transactions. All payments will be posted immediately to the customers' account. The customers will have the option to either print or forward receipts to an email address of their choice. Users will pay a $2 convenience fee per transaction.

"We are thrilled to team up with Georgia Power in offering customers the convenience of real-time bill-payment services," said Hamed Shahbazi, chairman and CEO of TIO Networks Corp. "Our bill-payment service has proven to be a hit with utilities throughout the United States in providing their customers with last-minute bill-payment options to avoid late fees and disruption of essential services."

Meanwhile, TIO expanded its relationship with Cox Communications to provide real-time bill-payment services to its "cash-preferred" customers across the United States. This agreement follows successful deployments in Phoenix and Las Vegas, where COX bill payment is available at TIO Networks' retail-channel partners, Cox payment centers and digital stores.

All payments made to TIO are posted in real-time, giving customers flexibility to balance household finances, avoid late fees and potentially disruption of services.

Cox is the third-largest cable company in the nation, providing advanced digital video, broadband and telephone services to more than 6 million customers. These customers are now able to pay their video, voice and/or Internet bills via TIO payment centers. The bill payment service will be available in participating Cox markets within TIO's processing network. Currently there are 18,000 location end points to TIO's network, including 1,500 self-service, cash-accepting kiosks. Customers pay a convenience fee.

"At Cox, our focus is always on the customer," said Mark McGuire, vice president of solutions delivery for Cox. "The ability of customers to pay their bills at TIO retail locations and self-service kiosks is one more way that our customers can conveniently do business with Cox."

TIO Networks, Burnaby, British Columbia, is a multi-channel, expedited bill-payment processor serving the largest telecom, wireless, cable and utility bill issuers in North America.
